Juanita Hernandez

Juanita Hernandez is a Democratic at-large representative on the Waterbury Public Schools Board of Education in Connecticut. First elected in 2013, Hernandez won a new term in the at-large general election on November 7, 2017.
Biography
Hernandez earned an A.S. in general studies from Naugatuck Valley Community College. She is currently pursuing her bachelor's degree from the University of Bridgeport. Hernandez has been an employee of the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services for 30 years. She has volunteered with community organizations including the NOW Youth Counsel and the Scovill Home Association.[1]

2017
Five of 10 seats on the Waterbury Public Schools Board of Education in Connecticut were up for at-large election on November 7, 2017. Four incumbents won re-election: Karen E. Harvey (D), Juanita Hernandez (D), Charles L. Stango (R), and Thomas Van Stone Sr. (R). Newcomer Melissa Serrano-Adorno (D) also won. Republican challenger Zaida Martinez lost, as did Margaret "Maggie" O'Brien, Danielle Albert, and Shakirah Howard, who were endorsed by the Independent Party.[2][3]
