Thomas Van Stone Sr. is a Republican at-large representative on the Waterbury Public Schools Board of Education in Connecticut. First elected in 2013, Van Stone won a new term in the at-large general election on November 7, 2017.

Van Stone earned an A.S. in industrial management from Waterbury State Technical College and an A.A. in business from Fairfield University. He later earned a B.S. in management from Post University and an M.A. in organizational management from Fairfield University. Van Stone worked for 32 years as an engineer with Sikorsky Aircraft. He has served as a member of the Waterbury AOH and a coach with the Town Plot Sports Association. Van Stone and his wife, Kathy, have four adult children.[1]

Five of 10 seats on the Waterbury Public Schools Board of Education in Connecticut were up for at-large election on November 7, 2017. Four incumbents won re-election: Karen E. Harvey (D), Juanita Hernandez (D), Charles L. Stango (R), and Thomas Van Stone Sr. (R). Newcomer Melissa Serrano-Adorno (D) also won. Republican challenger Zaida Martinez lost, as did Margaret "Maggie" O'Brien, Danielle Albert, and Shakirah Howard, who were endorsed by the Independent Party.[2][3]
