I've worked in education for over a decade. I served as the Northwest Regional STEM Manager in Iowa providing STEM programming, professional development, and advancing collaborations among business and industry, and academia for PreK- 12th-grade. I’ve spent the last six years working for Minnesota State University, Mankato (MSU), where I have held various leadership roles in advancement and development, external relations, operations, and curriculum development. I currently oversee MSU’s Minnesota Polytechnic and Applied Learning Institute (MinnPoly) at Saint Paul College as the Director of Operations and Industry Partnerships.

I have a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Minnesota State University, Mankato, a Master's degree in Multicultural Teaching and Learning from the University of Minnesota, and a Bachelor's degree in Digital Communications, and Criminology and Law Studies from Marquette University.

I am a proud mother of 4 incredible and spirited children; a six-year-old (who currently is in 1st grade within the district), a three-year-old, and one-year-old twins.
  • Adapting to evolving educational needs and technological advancements is essential. A focus on developing relevant and engaging curricula that prepare students for the challenges of the modern world through various modalities prepares students with the competencies and knowledge, as well as life skills such as adaptability, resiliency, critical thinking, and ethical skills. Students have different learning styles, and if we implement the whole-person approach, students and innovative teaching and learning practices will provide robust and effective opportunities that illustrate the real-world application of what is being taught in the classroom.
  • Managing the district's budget to allocate resources appropriately and effectively is a key responsibility. School safety and supporting and investing in the professional growth of teachers and staff is vital. Retaining, and attracting quality educators is vital. Within our district and our community, we have the ability to shape a culture of respect and value for teachers. We can do that by creating rewards, special activities, and recognition. We also can provide additional support and services so educators can focus on their students, and teaching, rather than spend more time with administrative tasks, behavioral challenges, etc.
  • Building strong relationships with parents, families, caregivers, and the local community is crucial for the student and effective schools. Students spend roughly 20% of their time in school. The other 80% of their time is outside of the classroom. The education occurring outside the classroom is an impactful and important aspect of a student's growth and development which is why it is imperative that we collaborate and communicate with families and the community. Effective communication and engagement efforts help involve stakeholders in the education process and decision-making.
Safety and well-being of our students, educators, and staff, including early intervention and support services.
