Elections

2014

Joseph filed to be a candidate for the 40th Judicial District, Division B in 2014. However, a lawsuit was filed alleging that Joseph and incumbent Mary Hotard Becnel had "irregulatiries...on [their] qualifying forms."[2] The suit was filed by Melanie L. Trosclair, noted simply as "a qualified elector" on the petition, and it was filed on her behalf by the law firm of Rob Snyder. Snyder is also running for the St. John the Baptist Parish judgeship. Retired judge Michael Kirby ruled to disqualify Joseph's candidacy, but dismissed the challenge against Becnel.[1]
