Myerscough nominated to federal court in Illinois
June 19, 2010
Illinois: On Thursday, June 17, President Barack Obama nominated Sue Myerscough to the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois to replace retiring Jeanne Scott. Of the nomination, Senator Dick Durbin remarked, "Sue Myerscough’s experience as a state court judge and her stature in the legal community will make her a real asset to the federal bench."[1]
Myerscough has served as a judge on the Illinois Fourth District Appellate Court since 1998. Prior to that, she was a judge of the 7th Circuit Court, joining the court in 1990 and elevating to Chief Judge in 1994.[2]
From here, Myerscough's nomination is in the hands of the Senate Judiciary Committee, who will vote on the nomination before sending it to the full Senate.
