Four seats on the New Albany-Floyd County Consolidated School Corporation Board of School Trustees were up for general election on November 4, 2014.

At-large incumbents Jan Habermel Anderson and Mark Boone ran against challengers Danita Burks, Don Sakel and Lee Ann Wiseheart for two seats. Donna Corbett competed with board member Roger E. Whaley for the District 1 seat. District 2 incumbent David J. Hines faced challenger Sue Lynn Williams in his re-election bid.[1]

Incumbent Jan Habermel Anderson and challenger Lee Ann Wiseheart won the two at-large seats. Challenger Donna Corbett defeated incumbent Roger E. Whaley for the District 1 seat, and District 2 board member David J. Hines retained his seat against challenger Sue Lynn Williams.

New Albany-Floyd County Consolidated School Corporation is located in Floyd County, Indiana. The county seat is New Albany. Floyd County is home to 76,244 residents, according to the United States Census Bureau.[2] In the 2011-2012 school year, New Albany-Floyd County Consolidated School Corporation was the 15th-largest school district in Indiana and served 11,458 students.[3]

Demographics

Floyd County underperformed compared to the rest of Indiana in terms of higher education achievement in 2012. The United States Census Bureau found that 22.4 percent of Floyd County residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree compared to 23.0 percent for Indiana as a whole. The median household income for Floyd County was $53,208 compared to $48,374 for the state of Indiana. Voter and candidate information

The New Albany-Floyd County Board of School Trustees consists of seven members elected at-large or by specific geographic districts to four-year terms. There was no primary election, and the general election was held on November 4, 2014. Four seats were up for election in 2014.[1]

School board candidates had to file with their county elections department during the candidate filing period, which began on July 23, 2014, and ended on August 22, 2014. Write-in candidates also had to file by August 22, 2014. To vote in the 2014 general election, voters had to register by October 6, 2014.[5]
