Oregon is among the five states that have no lieutenant governor. The President of the Senate serves as second in line to the Oregon governor.

The Oregon election of 2010 was held on November 2, 2010. The primary election date was May 18. The deadline for filing nomination papers was in March for partisan candidates and will be in August for independent candidates.[1]

Oregon is considered a decidedly Democratic state. Both senate seats, 4 of the 5 house seats, and the governor's office are all held by Democrats. Additionally, both chambers of the state legislature have comfortable Democratic majorities. As of May 27, 2010, the Cook Political Report moved the race from "Likely Democrat" to "Lean Democrat"[2]
