I was born and reared in Hawaii. After serving in the Air Force right out of high school, I worked as a financial analyst for securities firms in Palm Beach County, Florida, as an international consultant in Tokyo, and as a Japanese-speaking account executive for a Ko Olina club in Hawaii. I am running for the office of state senator because that position will more effectively enable me to work for a better Hawaii. We residents have experienced significant erosion in recent years of our ability to live our lives as a free people with a respectful, supportive government.
  • Mandates to take injections or wear masks have no place in a free society. As your state senator, I will work to make such mandates illegal for both adults and children. Every adult of sound mind must have the final say on whether or not something is injected into their bloodstream and whether or not to wear a mask that significantly reduces the quality of the air they breathe.
  • The Red Hill Bulk Fuel Facility remains a pressing concern for Oahu, with the possibility of more contamination still a looming threat. It's imperative that we ensure complete transparency between the Navy and the people and government of Hawaii. To safeguard our community, state workers and legislators must have reasonable access to monitoring the decommissioning process. This includes providing up-to-date monitoring reports that are released on a timely basis and in-person trips into the facility, ensuring that Oahu residents and their government are fully informed. By prioritizing transparency and oversight, we can better protect our environment and health, fostering accountability and respect between the Navy and our community.
  • Tackling the high cost of housing is one of my top priorities. Hawaii has a housing crisis, with many residents struggling to afford a place to live. The exorbitant cost of living forces families to live in overcrowded conditions, sometimes with incompatible strangers. Children are handicapped in their scholastic achievements because they don’t have a quiet place and a desk to do their homework, studies and reading. Most of our kamaaina are said to be a paycheck away from going homeless. They move to the mainland because they "are priced out of paradise." By addressing these issues head-on, we can create a more equitable and affordable housing market in Hawaii.
Three of them are described in the preceding questions. Others include crime reduction, small business support, clean and accurate elections and healthier, better-educated keiki.
The end of WWII. I had just turned five and was on a Honolulu bus by myself. I saw that the adults were excited and talking to each other, saying, "The war is over" repeatedly. I didn't know what "war" meant, but was impressed by the unusual behavior. I learned the meaning of "war" sometime later.
An understanding of the separation of the executive branch and the legislative branch and their respective constitutional responsibilities.
Yes, but as concerned and involved citizens prior to taking office, one would expect them to already have those.
Yes. As people with the same goal, which should be a better state for the people, they will help each other with information and different perspectives. They can work together effectively to reach worthwhile objectives. A state that has legislators with no relationships among them is not well served.
