Efforts to recall Mayor Paul Diaz and Councilman Ildefonso Green in South Tucson, Arizona from their positions were launched in November 2014.[1] A recall election against Diaz was scheduled to take place on May 19, 2015.[2] The Pima County Recorder’s Office nullified the results after it was discovered that signatures were missing dates as required by state law.[3] The recall effort restarted, and the election was again scheduled for May 19, 2015. Diaz was recalled.[4]
Recall proponent arguments
Diaz and Green were targeted by two different sets of recall supporters. Both petitions expressed concerns about transparency and public safety.[1]
