An effort to remove Robert Spangler from his position as city council representative in Doraville, Georgia, was initiated on August 31, 2007.
The impetus behind the recall campaign was the firing of Doraville Police Chief John King.[1]
Some residents said King was fired because of his military service in Iraq.
The recall effort against Spangler did not collect sufficient signatures to force a recall election. However, when Spangler ran for re-election to his District 3 seat on the Doraville City Council in November 2009, he was defeated by Karen Pachuta.[2]
