Primary: He was successful in the primary on June 3, 2014, receiving 32.8 percent of the vote. He competed against Corbit S. Harrington, Michael Glen Moses, Bill O'Connor and William J. Speare.
General: He defeated William J. Speare in the general election on November 4, 2014, receiving 55.1 percent of the vote.
