Campaign themes

2014

Norton explained his reasons for running in 2014 during an interview with the Crowley Star:

As a parent, I have been directly involved with my son as a student in Crowley ISD. There are a lot of positive things going on within the district. With the upcoming growth for Crowley ISD, we need to always look for ways to improve. After attending many board meetings, I feel Crowley ISD could benefit from more open lines of communication between superintendent, board, and community. The make-up with the board now seems to have a lot of unnecessary political friction between board members. I feel all board members should respect each other even if they do not agree on a subject. Accountability is very important. The current lack of accountability has corroded public respect for the board. Having witnessed my opponent's lack of respect for a fellow board member and the board lacking of accountability for that behavior, I feel I will do a better job serving the students, staff and community of Crowley ISD.
