Three of the seven seats on the Crowley Independent School District school board were up for by-district general election on May 7, 2016. Incumbent Ryan Ray defeated challengers Lizdelia Pinon and Eric Johnson Jr. in the race for the Place 5 seat. Place 6 incumbent Gary Grassia defeated challenger Leticia Gonzales. In Place 7, newcomer Lyndsae Benton ran unopposed after incumbent Sherri Whiting withdrew from the race.[1][2]

2015
The general election on May 9, 2015, in the Crowley Independent School District featured three seats up for election. In the Place 3 race, incumbent P.K. Chowdhury faced two challengers: Mia Hall and Rusty Norton. Place 4 incumbent June Davis was unopposed. There was also a special election for an unexpired term in Place 6. Gary Grassia, a 2012 Democratic candidate for the Texas House of Representatives, ran unopposed. Hall, Davis and Grassia won the three seats.

On women's issues, Grassia said, "I feel it only right to defer to women on matters that are specific to their gender...I support any individual’s right to honor God as they believe is right, but not to play God to their constituents. I can’t believe that God granted us with free will so that we can impose our will upon others." Additionally, he supports well-funded law enforcement, as well as adequate industry oversight "so that we have clean, safe and healthy air and water for generations of families to come."[4]
