June 27, 2018: The median age of Americans increased to 38.0 years in 2017, an all-time high.[1] While that’s up nearly a full year from 37.2 in 2010, the new all-time record is not going to last long. The Census Bureau projects the average age will increase to 43 years old by 2060.[2]
By 2060, the total United States population is projected to reach 404 million people. That an increase of 78 million from 326 million today.
An earlier Number of the Day noted that the number of U.S. senior citizens will top the number of children in 17 years.
