September 18, 2018: A Brookings Institution analysis of Census Bureau data shows that 41% of those who have come to the U.S. since 2010 are from Asia. That’s slightly more than the 39% who have come from Latin America.[1]
The New York Times reports that “about 45 percent were college educated ... compared with about 30 percent of those who came between 2000 and 2009.”
Overall, 44.5 million Americans today are foreign-born. That’s 13.7% of the population, the highest share since 1910.
