Tennessee does not directly elect a Lieutenant Governor. Rather, the members of the Tennessee State Senate elect one of their own to serve as Speaker of the Senate, a position that automatically carries the title of Lieutenant Governor of Tennessee. The current Speaker of the Senate of Tennessee is Ron Ramsey, who is safe in the 2010 election cycle.
