Campaign website

Guzulaitis' campaign website stated the following:

Here’s what I would like to see us accomplish:

· I am for growth, promotion and improvement in the commercial district for the following reasons: - We need an inviting city center with smart regulations to create good jobs, promote businesses and keep tax and payroll dollars in town. - Sales tax revenues provide almost half of the city’s operating budget. By marketing our city center as open for business we can create income while keeping property taxes as low as possible.

· I am for improving infrastructure with the paving of more roads and improving the roads already paved, beginning a much needed pedestrian / bicycle transportation system, and planning for facilities for our city employees and residents that are safe and ready for the future. With the inevitable growth in our residential section fueling property tax revenues, and by creating growth in our commercial corridor, we can begin to fund these improvements.

· I want to bring our dated city’s entrances into the 21st century to showcase the beauty within our borders.

· I am for lobbying NCDOT to provide turn lanes at our city entrances on Rt 87 and Rt 133 for the safety of our residents and those travelling through.

· I believe in a vibrant parks and recreation department to fuel the enjoyment of our city by residents and visitors alike. - I support a strong senior center because it provides so much value to our older residents. - I support a strong before and after school program and summer programs to help the next generation and their parents build a strong foundation for the future.

· I am against litter and for protecting our water quality throughout our city. Our lakes are our gems sprinkled throughout the city. I believe in protecting our shores and making sure we can enjoy our lakes for generations to come. I would like to help instill new pride in our community and make it a shining example of cleanliness.

· I am for volunteering. I am amazed at how many give of their time for the betterment of our city and would like to see more of our residents have a hand and voice in our future.

· I am for listening to all the people in our community with respect, knowing that each of us brings a unique perspective to the conversation. All of our residents are stakeholders. While we may not always agree, I will always do what I feel is best for our city’s future and the generations that follow.

If you share these goals and vision I’d be honored to have your support.[2]
