| “ |
The licensing of marijuana establishments is not consistent with the safety, health and welfare of the citizens of Jefferson County. For keeping Lakewood free of retail marijuana stores, vote for ballot question 2A. For stronger protection for our kids. More than 10% of Colorado kids between 12 and 17 already use marijuana. Protect our kids. Strengthen Lakewood. Vote for 2A.[3] |

Opposition
A group called Responsible Lakewood campaigned in opposition to Measure 2A.[7]
The Marijuana Policy Project also endorsed a "no" vote on Measure 2A.[1]
Arguments against
Opponents of 2A argued that retail marijuana produces a large amount of tax revenue that would just go to Denver if voters decided to ban it in the city. They argued that people would continue to use and sell pot in the city, but that it would not be as regulated and would not form a tax-revenue producing industry that benefits the city as marijuana could be if Measure 2A is rejected.[7]
