The West Virginia Right to Keep and Bear Arms Amendment, Amendment 1, also known as Amendment No. 1, was on the ballot in West Virginia on November 4, 1986, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The state adopted the provision that, "A person has the right to keep and bear arms for the defense of self, family, home and state, and for lawful hunting and recreational use."[1][2]
