Ruben Villarreal was a 2016 Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 15th Congressional District of Texas.[1] He was defeated by Tim Westley (R) in the Republican primary runoff on May 24, 2016.[2]

Vicente Gonzalez (D) defeated Tim Westley (R), Vanessa Tijerina (G), and Ross Lynn Leone (L) in the general election on November 8, 2016. A runoff for both parties was held on May 24, 2016. In the runoff primaries, Westley defeated Ruben Villarreal, and Gonzalez defeated Juan Palacios Jr. Incumbent Ruben Hinojosa did not seek re-election.[3][4]
