I'm a Raleigh planter that has been in Raleigh for over 30 years. I'm a Community Organizer, President/Co-Founder of a 2B's Brains and Brothers Non-profit youth org., Community & family Advocate, VC Wake County's Health & Human Service Board, Residency Determination Services Senior Specialist, Juvenile Justice Advocate, Evangelist, and a Woman with very Strong Faith. I'm a resident of Southeast Raleigh for 25 years, at 42 yrs old, I have lived in N. Raleigh, W. Raleigh, and E. Raleigh as well. I identify with every area of our city and the struggles each part faces and the differences. As a small business owner, I know what it feels like to not have a resource backup. As a mother, I know what it feels like to not be able to rob Peter to pay Paul. As a 1st time home owner, I know what it feels like to not be able to afford a home. As a Resource Provider, I know the importance of providing timely resources. As a Community Leader, I know what it feels like to provide open communication. As a mentor, I know what effective programs will provide to change a person's outlook on life. As a College Graduate, I know how education changed my perception. As an Advocate, I know how to FIGHT for and with The People. As an Evangelist, I know how Love and Respect will Heal our Land!
  • I will work with developers and utilize the land the City owns to create true Affordable housing according the one income and livable wage.
  • I will utilize and prioritize the City's infrastructures to be more effective according the the needs of The People.
  • I will Open the doors of Communication with the Residents of Raleigh and our Businesses to establish and maintain Community Engagement.
I am passionate about our Zoning and Rezoning to develop fair and sustainable housing. As a city we must maintain and protect the integrity of our land and communities while still creating a healthy environment for growth. Raleigh has a responsibility to protect property owners from flood plain zones while creating a safe and effective plan to save our water and sewer systems to have an eco-friendly run-off that will keep our properties from being flooded. Raleigh has a responsibility to protect the historic essence of many areas in our communities while developing new housing options to accommodate the rapid growth of our city.
I look up to the Youth and Young Adult I encounter.

I would like to follow in the example of:

Maya Angelou: Her classiness, strength, endurance, sustainability, and power. Dr. Angelou's ability to overcome childhood molestation, teen insecurities, being bullied, failed marriages, and depression is Powerful. Her endurance to not allow life's circumstances to dictate her story's ending.

Dr. Martin Luther King: His strength in Faith and the will to carry out God's plan for his life. The way he stood for Peace while demanding Respect and Equality for Black People while organizing and connecting ALL People. His effective Communication that empowered a Nation of despair to to become the Best version of themselves. Is who I inspire to be.

DaQuanta Copeland: I would love to utilize the characteristics of those Powerful influencers that came before me but more importantly, I want to just be who God has called me to be. I am a Powerful Woman of Faith, Integrity, Strength, Endurance, Loving, Compassionate, Honest, Empathetic, and Genuine. I want to carry out and follow the path that was designed for me with Grace, Love, and Respect.
Respect, Understanding, Positive Prospective, Knowledgeable, Awareness, Love, and Hopeful Perception.
Love doesn't cost anything but RESPECT. Understanding that true diversity is not, race, gender, age, sexual preference but different mindsets and prospective coming together to reach a common goal.
I am Honest, Loyal, Determined, Strong, Empathetic, A Communicator, Empowering, Intelligent, Fearless, Hopeful, Durable, and have very Strong Faith.
To establish a real tangible relationship with the residents in the city. To create a safe and effective space to create a healthy thriving city that EVERY resident and business as the ability to tap into.
I would like to leave a legacy to determination, strength, love, and respect. Never allow your current situation to dictate your end result. Always know that you have the ability to change the outcome of any situation.
The 1st historical event in my life happened when I was 8 yrs old in the 4th grade living in Montgomery Alabama. I wrote Govern Guy Hunt. He was the 1st Republican governor since 1877 when the reconstruction took place. I was very gifted in math and I wanted everyone else to love math the way that I did. My 4th grade teacher assisted me in writing the govern to start a program at my school Daisy Lawrence called "Say Yes to Family Math". I invited the govern to my school to see how smart we were and to tell him in person why he should start the program. Govern Hunt, sent his response to my letter back to my school. He sent 5,000 copies of his response on Gold paper accepting my invite. Once Govern Hunt visited my school, the program was started and entire families were able to go to school on Saturday mornings to practice different math techniques and learn how to see math differently. The city fully funded the program for 1yr and even provided us with Hardee's breakfast biscuits every weekend. My family relocate to Charlotte NC after my 5th grade year.
That moment will always be a moment of empowerment for me. It was at the age of 8 yrs old, that I learned the power of seeing a need and putting in the work to become the solution.
My very 1st job was baby sitting at the age of 12 yrs old. I held that job for about 3 years.
The Bible. Every situation we are facing in the world today is already written. The questions that we have are already answered.
Elastigirl (The mom from Incredibles) She has the ability to be gentile but still powerful enough to stretch to handle any situation.
My struggles in life has been having to knock down doors and breaking wooden ceilings. With God's Grace and Mercy, We The People will remove ALL barriers.
I will be the Mayor that leads our city with Love, Respect, and Inclusion. I will advocate for a millionaire as though he/she poor and I'm the only one on his team while advocating for a poor person as though he/she is a millionaire and paying me to fight. I will lead our city with open communication, empathy, and consistency. I will acknowledge, validate, address, and fix the difficult issues that plagues our city. I will be a tangible part of leadership in our city as well as encourage and support the council to follow suit. I will assist our despaired residents to obtain, sustain, and create a safe and thriving life of education, jobs, resources, and fulfillment. I will create programs to empower, educate, and uplift All residents and businesses. I will work with grassroot organizations to provide the same opportunities as big businesses. I will establish programs across the city to save our youth from a life of despair. I will partner with the County and State as well as advocate on the Federal level to ensure the residents of Raleigh will live according to NC's Constitution 1st amendment: That all persons are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, the enjoyment of the fruits of their own labor, and the pursuit of happiness.
Every responsibility of Mayor is Equally important. Our City maybe thriving but our Residents are suffering. We have to establish and maintain a balance for Environmental, Social, and Economic health. I will protect and support ALL of our 1st responders including dispatch workers. I will take care of infrastructures as well as our people. I will take care and improve our tree lands and water systems. Without creating and sustaining a healthy balance in every area, we will lose the true essence of a thriving healthy city.
To work close with the City manager and develop a healthy responsible council team. As mayor I will create a system for our city council to work close with the resident leaders in the communities they serve while supporting and empowering the communities to become healthy strong safe neighborhoods.
I love that my city is full of vibrant, strong, and passionate people that is willing to come together for the total health and wealth of our people.
Raleigh's rapid growth is the greatest challenge currently and will be over the next decade. We have too many displaced people and families that we must prioritize creating affordable housing and connecting with adequate resources before we continue to recruit new comers.
The idea relationship between the City and State government should be very close and respectful. The state leadership should listen and support the leaders of the city. The City leaders should continuously advocate on behalf of the residents of the city.
The City leaders should continuously advocate on behalf of the residents of the city.
Politicians and diapers have one thing in common: they should both be changed regularly… and for the same reason.

The Mayor should make sure the law enforcement officers are properly compensated and supported as well as held accountable for their service performance.
