Amber Mills is a Principled, Proven, Conservative leader currently serving as the Shelby County Commissioner for District 1. A resident of Arlington for over two decades, Amber has a background that spans both international service and national security, having served 17 years as a Flight Attendant for Delta Air Lines and later as a National Accounts Manager for an anti-terrorism consulting firm. Her tenure on the County Commission has been defined by a "taxpayer first" mentality—she has voted against every tax increase and spearheaded efforts to audit major institutions like Memphis-Shelby County Schools to ensure financial transparency. Amber is running for the Tennessee House of Representatives, District 99, to bring that same accountability to Nashville. She and her husband, Lee, are the proud parents of two sons. They attend Bellevue Baptist Church.
  • I don't just talk about conservative values; I have an eight-year voting record to prove them. I have consistently opposed tax hikes, including the wheel tax, and fought for the responsible use of public funds. In Nashville, I will be a firewall against government overreach and a tireless advocate for keeping Tennessee a low-tax state.
  • I am a staunch supporter of our first responders and believe that safe neighborhoods are the foundation of a thriving community. I spearheaded the effort to audit Memphis-Shelby County Schools to root out fraud and waste, and I will continue to ensure that taxpayer dollars are used effectively to protect our citizens and prioritize our children’s education.
  • I successfully led the expansion of the Shelby County Office of Veterans Services from a single officer to a full team of ten, which earned me the 2024 Commissioner's Eagle Award. I am dedicated to eliminating the bureaucratic hurdles that prevent our heroes from accessing the healthcare and benefits they earned through their sacrifice.
I am most passionate about Fiscal Oversight, Public Safety, and Veteran Advocacy. Too often, government growth occurs at the expense of the family budget; I believe in a "zero-based" approach to state spending that requires every dollar to be justified. I am also a fierce advocate for safety and accountability—whether it is supporting our law enforcement or auditing major school districts to ensure that taxpayer dollars reach the classroom rather than being lost to fraud or waste. Finally, I am deeply committed to improving Veteran Services. My work on the Commission—which earned me the 2024 Commissioner's Eagle Award.
