Three of the seven seats on the Jefferson County Public Schools Board of Education were up for by-district general election on November 8, 2016. In District 2, Chris Kolb defeated incumbent David Jones Jr. and James Fletcher to win the seat. The incumbent in District 4 did not run for re-election leaving Benjamin Gies to win the seat after defeating Keisha Allen. District 7 incumbent Chris Brady defeated Fritz Hollenbach , S. Scott Majors, and James Sexton to win re-election to his seat.[1]

Funding
Fletcher reported no contributions or expenditures to the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance as of October 25, 2016.[2]

Jefferson County outperformed Kentucky as a whole in terms of higher education achievement from 2010 to 2014. The median household income for the county was $47,692, compared to $43,342 for the state. The percentage of people below poverty level for Jefferson County was 16.8 percent, while it was 18.5 percent for the state as a whole.[4]
