Benjamin Gies is the former District 4 representative on the Jefferson County Public Schools Board of Education in Kentucky. Gies won the seat in the by-district general election on November 8, 2016. He resigned on July 1, 2019, to take a job as a policy principal at Kentucky Youth Advocates.[1]

Three of the seven seats on the Jefferson County Public Schools Board of Education were up for by-district general election on November 8, 2016. In District 2, Chris Kolb defeated incumbent David Jones Jr. and James Fletcher to win the seat. The incumbent in District 4 did not run for re-election leaving Benjamin Gies to win the seat after defeating Keisha Allen. District 7 incumbent Chris Brady defeated Fritz Hollenbach , S. Scott Majors, and James Sexton to win re-election to his seat.[2]

Funding

Gies reported no contributions or expenditures to the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance as of October 25, 2016.[3]

Candidates who raised or spent over $3,000 during the election cycle had to file all pre-election and post-election campaign finance reports. Those who raised or spent less than $3,000 were only required to file a 30-day post-election report, while those who raised or spent less than $1,000 did not have to file any reports.[4]
