Primary: She ran unopposed in the Republican primary on June 3, 2014.
General: She was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 16.4 percent of the vote. She competed against Christopher A. Baca.

Ballard received her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia.
