Susan Dotson-Smith

Susan Dotson-Smith is a district court judge for the 28th Judicial District, which presides over Buncombe County of North Carolina.[1] She was appointed to the court by former Governor Bev Perdue on October 13, 2012 to replace Rebecca B. Knight.[2] Dotson-Smith was re-elected to the 28th Judicial District in 2014, winning a term that expired on December 31, 2018.[3][4]

Dotson-Smith received her undergraduate degree from Duke University and her J.D. degree from the Wake Forest University School of Law.[2]
Career
Dotson-Smith spent twenty years as a private practice attorney in North Carolina prior to becoming an assistant clerk for the Superior Court (Buncombe County) in 2011. She was appointed to the district court in 2012.[2]
