My husband, Val, and I have four children and four grandchildren. Our family chose Chandler 14 years ago for the excellence in education CUSD represents. We have two CUSD graduates (’23 and ’24). As an educator for over 10 years, I understand both the parent’s perspective and what is expected in the classroom. I earned my business degree from the University of Kansas, which shapes my ability to seek continuous improvement in the areas of district management and costs, as well as student achievement. Earning my graduate degree in education from ASU, I emphasize learning with the whole-child in mind. In striving to achieve these goals it is imperative that every learning environment prioritize safety for our children and staff.
  • Include all learners in the legacy of excellence the district has to offer.
  • Instill that learning should be continuous throughout one’s lifetime. Encourage furthering educational attainment, workforce development, and career choices to open doors of opportunity for all learners.
  • Listen to our teachers and provide our educators with the tools they need to teach.
School funding is the public policy at the center of protecting public education. When we moved to Arizona in 2012, the per pupil spending was last, and still currently among the lowest. Our district does so much with so little, while we rely on the voters to pass budget overrides to keep our district the number one district in the state of Arizona. Our community deserves a robust workforce, one that attracts people from all over the world to live and work in the greater CUSD district. Thus, I believe that we must fully fund our schools to support public education, maintain the quality of the learning environment for students, and pay our teachers a decent salary.
School board members should have a well-rounded background to provide a wide perspective to govern. Governing boards should be led by compassionate, positive individuals who are willing to seek impactful growth. These are the qualities which I hold to impart a positive impact for the district. As a teacher, I understand professional development, employment contracts, personnel policies, evaluations, curriculum, and functions of administration.

In addition, my business background in grant management, real estate, retail, and banking would be an asset for the district. I am a determined individual that would do my best to strive to achieve the best for our children, parents, and staff.
Elected school board members should be citizens that have the best interest of the community in which they serve. Chandler Unified School District (CUSD) is the second largest district in the state of Arizona, serving approximately 43,000 students, 5,000 staff members, and providing excellence in education for the families. CUSD is the number one district in the state, which attracts a diversified quality workforce. The district is the second largest employer in the City of Chandler, with schools also in the Town of Gilbert, and Queen Creek. The responsibilities of the elected board members are to uphold the educational legacy of the district, expand opportunities for all students, provide a safe and enriching environment for all students, teachers, and staff; maintain financial stability for the district; all while being cognizant of the expenditure of taxpayer’s monies.
As a parent of two recent CUSD graduates, I understand that building relationships within the community is important to the success of all members. I have attended the planned community advisory sessions with the City of Chandler and those for the school district regarding community concerns on teen violence. I have also attended the software advisory session and plan to attend school led events. I enjoy being a part of the greater CUSD community, as I listen to families in our school district.
