Paul Wilson appointed to Missouri Supreme Court

Missouri: Gov. Jay Nixon announced the appointment of a new Missouri Supreme Court justice on Dec. 3--Paul C. Wilson. The new appointee was chosen from three candidates presented to the Governor and will fill the vacancy of retired Justice William Ray Price.

Wilson is a lawyer and former judge. A graduate of the University of Missouri School of Law, he spent the bulk of his legal career, from 1996 to 2008, working in the Missouri Attorney General's Office. This is his second judicial appointment by Gov. Nixon, the first being to the 19th Judicial Circuit Court in 2010. That job was short-lived, as Wilson lost election to the seat later that year. After that, he practiced with the firm of Van Matre, Harrison, Hollis, Taylor & Bacon P.C.

Craig Van Matre, a principle at the law firm where Wilson has spent the last year, commented, "I expect him to be one of the best judges that we've had on the court. He's got a tremendous feeling for justice and a keen intellect."
