Jeremy McGee is a Norfolk native by choice, an entrepreneur since youth, and a determined advocate for his city's future. His journey began in small-town South Carolina, where he launched a lawn care business with his brothers. His fascination with computers led him to start a business building and repairing computers that gained national recognition while in high school. This early success helped pave his path to Norfolk.

While attending the University of South Carolina studying Computer Engineering, Jeremy launched an Internet company that developed technology to provide a safe Internet experience for children. This grew to be one of the largest family focused dialup Internet services in the country and was sold to a larger company in Norfolk in 2005.

Jeremy moved to Norfolk with the company, fell in love with the city’s charm, and has since become a vital part of the city's business fabric. He leads Radiant Digital, a media company employing around 50 people across the country. With his wife Malia, he also founded the popular boutique inn and restaurant, Four Eleven York, a testament to their shared love for the city.

McGee's entrepreneurial success and investments in Norfolk fueled his civic engagement. He honed his leadership skills through his neighborhood civic league, the Visit Norfolk board, the Architectural Review Board (ARB), and the City of Norfolk Planning Commission. These experiences ignited his desire to serve his city even further.
  • Strengthening Safety It’s hard to call a place home without having peace of mind, and Norfolk residents deserve to feel at ease on their streets. I want to empower our first responders with the tools and resources they need to keep Norfolk safe. Our police officers are continually overworked, we still have too many open positions on the force, and urgent 911 calls often have unacceptable wait times. I will continually advocate for funding, more staffing, and the right work environments for our first responders.
  • Streamlining for Business I’ve heard from too many business owners that navigating the city bureaucracy can be a major burden. I saw it first hand in my own businesses and on the City Planning Commission. Norfolk has to attract new and expanding businesses in order to keep our economy competitive, and the first step is making sure we’re easy to work with.
  • Getting The Basics Right As a business owner I know the importance of having a great product. Norfolk has to deliver essential city services with absolute excellence. Our current residents deserve them and we won’t win over new residents without them. Whether it’s customer service to our citizens through Norfolk Cares and other channels, or it’s the everyday work of keeping streetlights lit, maintaining our parks, beaches, and open spaces, or traffic and code enforcement , we cannot accept lackluster services that result in declining quality of life in our neighborhoods. I promise to ensure these essential services get the funding and focus they deserve.
I am passionate about policies that improve Norfolk’s quality of life and economic future. I focus on economic growth by making the city more business-friendly, streamlining processes, and supporting high-paying jobs in industries like wind energy and maritime construction, paired with workforce training to ensure local access to these jobs. Affordable housing is critical, and I advocate for zoning reforms and streamlined development. I prioritize public safety by enhancing police staffing and mental health response teams. Education and resilience against climate change are also key, with a focus on rebuilding schools and securing sustainable infrastructure.
Strong work ethic, honesty, willingness to hear other's perspective, ability to change mind when wrong, and preparation.
I had a lawn care business with my two brothers while in high school. I grew up in South Carolina and if you know anything about that area, you know it's hot and humid during the summer. I quickly started learning about computers and transitioned to an inside job!

I strongly believe in financial transparency and government accountability as fundamental pillars of effective leadership. Taxpayers deserve to know how their money is being spent, and city leaders must be held accountable for delivering high-quality services efficiently. I advocate for clear, easily accessible financial reporting and greater public input in budgeting processes. Additionally, I support robust oversight to prevent waste and mismanagement. Norfolk’s government should operate with integrity and transparency, ensuring residents can trust that decisions are made in their best interest.
