An Indiana Balanced Budget Amendment may appear on the November 8, 2016 ballot in Indiana as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. The measure, upon voter approval, would require the legislature to enact a balanced budget each budget period. In other words, expense appropriations enacted by the legislature for a budget period would not be allowed to exceed the estimated revenue of the state for the same budget period.[1]
