A North Dakota Property Tax Abolishment Amendment was not on the November 4, 2014 ballot in North Dakota as an initiated constitutional amendment. The measure would have eliminated property taxes throughout the state.[1]
The measure was a second attempt by the organization, Empower the Taxpayer, to eliminate property taxes.[2] In 2012, the property tax abolishment initiative was defeated by a wide margin.
Support
Empower the Taxpayer led the campaign in support of the measure.[2]

- The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead said, "Well, there they go again. Two separate efforts are underway. One would eliminate the property tax. (Sound familiar?) The other would force local governments into state-mandated budget schedules that could destroy the flexibility that local governments need to adjust spending to changing needs, Both proposed measures are just short of ridiculous."[3]
Path to the ballot
The measure needed to be submitted to, reviewed and approved by the North Dakota Secretary of State. Following, supporters were required to circulate measure petitions.
The initiative's supporters needed to collect a minimum of 26,904 valid signatures by August 6, 2014.
