Judge Olvera appointed Presiding Judge

Texas: Judge Rolando Olvera, of Texas District 445, was appointed by Gov. Perry as the new presiding judge of the 5th Administrative Judicial Region. The appointment was announced on January 4, 2011 and is for a four-year term. Olvera stated, “I’m humbled, excited, thrilled, and just extremely happy and looking forward to working with all judges of all 11 counties in the judicial region." The presiding judge is responsible for implementing regional administrative rules, advising judges, recommending improvements to the Supreme Court and appointing visiting judges, among other things. Olvera will be sworn in to this new position on January 27, 2011.[1]
