Tony Potts was a Republican candidate for the District 1 seat on the Floyd County Board of Education in Georgia. He was defeated by challenger Chip Hood in the primary election on May 20, 2014.

Floyd County Schools is located in Floyd County, Georgia. The county seat of Floyd County is Rome. Floyd County is home to 96,317 residents, according to the United States Census Bureau.[1] Floyd County Schools was the 36th-largest school district in Georgia, serving 10,220 students during the 2013-2014 school year.[2]

Floyd County underperformed in comparison to the rest of Georgia in terms of higher education achievement and median household income in 2012.
