This measure sought to renew the current fire levy which is set at a rate of $.50 per $1,000 of assessed value for a further four years in order to continue to pay for fire protection and medical services in the township.[2]

The question on the ballot:
Shall the previous voted increase n tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution of General Ad Valorem Taxes within Bear Creek Township be renewed up to .50 mills ($0.50 per $1,000 of taxable value) for the period of 2012 through 2015 inclusive, for the purpose of Fire and Medical First Responder protection: and shall the township levy such renewal in millage for said purpose, thereby raising in the first year an estimated $205,000.00.[3] |
