A Port Huron School District Bond Measure was on the May 3, 2011 ballot in the Port Huron school district area which is in St. Clair County.
This measure was approved
- YES 3,730
- NO 3,572[1]
This measure sought to create a bond in the amount of $22.78 million as well as implement a levy of .5 mills to pay for the bond. The bond money will go towards upgrading school facilities including technology, safety and heating. The school noted that they know money is tight but also cited that the budget has already been cut and shortfalls are still expected in the coming school years.[2] Proponents of the measure noted that the cost is small compared to the benefits which will be implemented since this was approved. Ensuring that students have updated facilities helps the community in the long run. Though it was also noted that asking for more money never presents itself as the best time to be sought, putting this measure off will cost resident more later.[3]
