The California Healthcare Decision-Making Privacy Rights Initiative (#15-0123) was a proposed initiative and was not put on the November 8, 2016, ballot in California as an initiated state statute.

This initiative was designed to protect the privacy of all healthcare decisions for adults and for the guardians of children. It would also have prohibited discrimination based on the healthcare decisions of an individual.[1]

The official ballot summary was:[2]

States that healthcare decisions for adults are their private decisions, and that healthcare decisions for minors are private decisions for their parents or legal guardians. Prohibits discrimination in areas of public rights and benefits, business services, or employment based on a person’s healthcare choices, unless person has certain illnesses, has lost his/her civil rights due to a criminal conviction, or has an addiction to any substance.[3]
