On April 17, 2018, Tennessee House Democrats held a press conference at the state capitol calling for McQueen's resignation over issues with TNReady, a student assessment for third- through eighth-grade students.[3] Lawmakers said McQueen should resign after she announced that the company managing the online portion of TNReady had experienced a cyberattack.[4] McQueen apologized for the disruption in testing caused by the attack but said she would not resign.[5]

According to the Tennessean, Gov. Bill Haslam (R) said he had complete confidence in McQueen and that the attack was being investigated.[4]

Democratic Rep. John Ray Clemmons said McQueen should be held accountable and that frustration was growing statewide. The following video, which starts at 3:01, shows lawmakers calling for McQueen's resignation.
