Primary: He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on June 3, 2014.
General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 48.6 percent of the vote. He competed against Michelle Castillo Dowler.

Scarborough is an attorney at his own firm. Prior to this, he worked as a public defender.[3]
