William Chris Turner was a judge on the Shelby County General Sessions Criminal Court, Division 10. He was based in Memphis and served in the criminal division. He was elected to this position on August 5, 2010.[1] He was re-elected in 2014 for a term that expired on August 31, 2022.[2]

Career

Turner practiced law for 25 years prior to joining the court. He served in the Tennessee House of Representatives from 1976 to 1990, representing District 97. During that time, he helped sponsor legislation creating the criminal division of the general sessions court in 1982. From 1996 to 2008, he worked as a general sessions court clerk. He was a supervisor of the Juvenile Court Clerks Office prior to his election to the general sessions court in 2010.[1]

Turner ran for re-election to the Shelby County General Sessions Court.
General: He defeated Kathy Anderson-Kent in the general election on August 7, 2014, receiving 69 percent of the vote.[2]

2010

Turner ran for the general sessions court in 2010. He defeated Lee Wilson, winning 73.78 percent of the vote.[3][4]
