Denis Detzel was a 2016 Republican candidate who briefly sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 9th Congressional District of Illinois.[1] He withdrew from the race prior to the filing deadline of November 30, 2015.[2]

Detzel was a 2014 Republican candidate for District 14 of the Illinois House of Representatives.

Detzel earned his Ph.D. in administration and public policy from Northwestern University. His professional experience includes founding his own consulting firm, Eastlake, and working as an assistant pharmacist. He has also worked at an elementary and junior high school, as manager of corporate responsibility for CNA Financial Corporation and then as director of public policy and director of affirmative action for the McDonald’s Corporation.[3]

Detzel ran in the 2016 election for the U.S. House to represent Illinois' 9th District.[1] He dropped out of the race prior to the filing deadline.

2014

Elections for the Illinois House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on March 18, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was December 2, 2013. Incumbent Kelly Cassidy ran unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Denis Detzel ran unopposed in the Republican primary. Cassidy then defeated Detzel in the general election.[4][5][6][7]
