General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 35.4 percent of the vote. He competed against Pat Calhoun.

Alaniz graduated from Texas A&I University with a B.S. in chemical engineering[4]
Career
Alaniz has 42 years of experience in the oilfield, where he served as a drilling engineer, drilling superintendent and drilling manager.[4]
