Mark Barcus
Edward "Mark" Barcus was a district judge for Tulsa County, Oklahoma, which is located in District 14.[1] Barcus was appointed to the district court in 2012 by Governor Mary Fallin to fill the opening created by the appointment of Judge P. Thomas Thornbrugh to the Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals.[2] He managed a civil docket and also served as chief judge of the family division.[3] Barcus was defeated in his bid for re-election to the 14th District Court in 2014. He stepped down when his term expired on January 11, 2015.[4]
Education
Barcus earned his B.A. from Austin College and his J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin.[5]
Career
Barcus served as a special judge from 2003 to 2012 and as a family court referee from 2000 to 2003. Barcus is also a former member of the Tulsa Public Schools Board of Education.[2]
Court of Appeals bid
In 2010, Judge Barcus was one of three finalists nominated by the Oklahoma Judicial Nominating Commission for the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals.[6]

Barcus ran for re-election to the 14th District Court.
General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 38.7 percent of the vote. He competed against Doug Drummond.

12-12-12 Weddings
On December 12, 2012, over the 12 o'clock hour, Judge Barcus performed 21 marriages during a special "12-12-12 Wedding Docket." There had been several requests for courthouse weddings leading up to the unique date, so Barcus decided to make a celebration out of it. "What's so fun is seeing the diversity of life," Barcus said afterward. "I had one couple in their 70s and some were very young. Some dressed up and some didn't. Some cried. Some laughed. It was just a beautiful variety of people." [16]
