Biography

Mark Pitrone was born in East Cleveland, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1982 to 2005. Pitrone received an undegraduate degree in 1995 and attended Cedarville College (now University), Christian Heritage College, and the Northeast School of Theology. His professional experience includes working in carpentry and building trades.

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

My LB and I have been married for almost 40 years and we have brought 4 children into the world; 3 boys and a girl. [LB+ Lovely Bride]

I am retired from the US Navy/Naval Reserve with 23 years of honorable service; 6½ active, 16½ reserve. Where ELSE can you find a good part-time job to retire from?

I am also retired from life's work in various construction trades. This retirement is due to major injury. If you ask me about it, I will be HAPPY to tell you about it.

I am an ordained Messianic minister of the gospel and Bible teacher, with a weekly 2 hour radio/live stream broadcast/podcast.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

• The founding documents tell us that God has granted all of humanity "certain, unalienable rights" that no government can deny us. The Constitution is the supreme law of the land that NO government may abrogate in any way.
• If any government; federal, state, county or local; tries to do so, it is our right and duty to force that government to comply or to abolish it and start afresh.
• That should blow enough minds, and also move at least ⅓ - ½ of those who see this to get behind my candidacy. My friends and family's support will take care of the rest.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Individual LIBERTY under our Creator. Liberty is self-constrained freedom. It is best when that liberty is based in compliance with the Law of our Creator. There is NOTHING as freeing as submitting to our Creator and His Law.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

Ron Paul/Rand Paul and other civil libertarians, because they are the people most in the national spotlight that LOVE the Declaration and the Constitution/Bill of Rights. Also Dennis Prager, Ben Shapiro, Dan Bongino and their 'ilk'. They are fearless defenders of TRUTH.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Actual [versus perceived] honesty.

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

I am something that MOST politicians are not, and I hope I retain - I am honest, because I believe and TRY to live honestly because we are all [me included] destined to give account of our lives before the Creator of the physical universe.

What legacy would you like to leave?

A government that will allow us to live honestly and at liberty before our Creator.

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

The JFK assassination. I was 9 yo, in 4th grade at St. Paschal Baylon School in Highland Heights, Ohio. I was in the 2nd row from the windows and the front seat of the row. {My best friend, Greg Olson, was in the 1st row, front seat, where our teacher, Miss Tady could see us at all times ;-)]. The PA clicked on; the principal called all teachers to the office. Miss Tady looked right at the trouble makers [Greg and I] and said "I'll be right back!" She was TOUGH! She dragged the biggest, toughest kid in our class to the office from recess in a headlock! TOUGH!

About 8-10 minutes later she came back into the room with TEARS dripping down her face! She told us that the busses were on their way to take those who rode them home and that those of us who walked to school should pack up and go home and come back Monday morning. Then she told us that the President had been shot. Then the PA came back on to tell us that the President was dead, which started Miss Tady balling again.

If you haven't gotten it, yet - THAT was a formative experience in my life; made more so by my TOUGH teacher's reactions. THIS was important.

What is your favorite book? Why?

JRR Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings". It is a GREAT adventure of great good versus great evil that Tolkien based on his experiences in WWI's trenches. I read these books to my children every night when they were young. The differences between the adversaries and the thought processes that made them so helped to form the good character my children all exhibit, as well as helping to form my own, since I read LoTR when I was in high school.

Also, Tolkien's good friend C.S. Lewis, perhaps the greatest Christian apologist of the 20th century, and his Space Trilogy and "The Chronicles of Narnia", also read to my own children NUMEROUS times during their childhoods.

If you could be any fictional character, who would you want to be?

Tom Clancy's [not Netflix'] Jack Ryan.

What was the last song that got stuck in your head?

"Ghost Riders in the Sky". I've been humming it since I saw the YouTube with Roy Clark and Glen Campbell playing it this AM. THOSE boys REALLY could play guitar.

What is something that has been a struggle in your life?

The physical death of my daughter at age 37 this passed Nov.1; she was entirely too young and left a husband and 2 children behind not to mention her 3 brothers, my LB and me.

What qualities does the U.S. House of Representatives possess that makes it unique as an institution?

None, as it stands; but as it is SUPPOSED to be, it is the voice of the common man/woman in the nation's capital [and Capitol]. There are no other governments that are, at their founding and in their actual purpose, greater than ours.

Do you believe that it's beneficial for representatives to have previous experience in government or politics?

It CAN be, but not necessarily. The way MOST career politicians rise through the ranks, they end up being crooks by the time they get the House or Senate.

My father once told me that the most honest man he'd ever known was his father, a legal Italian immigrant. He also told me that, if his father ever was elected to Congress, he'd probably become as crooked as all the rest within the first 4 years of being there. Now, MY father [and my father-in-law, too] was the most honest man I ever knew, and I think he could have stood 2 terms, but probably not 3. The personal power, influence and wealth that he would have accrued would even have tainted him.

If I win the primary and then the general in November, I will be nearly 67 upon my swearing in [Congres-scritters are not inaugurated, AOC]. I have no desire to make this a "'til death do us part" office.

Not more than 2 terms for me. Thank you very much. I regard my own honesty to highly to chance becoming like the present House leadership.

What do you perceive to be the United States’ greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?

Illegal Alien invasion, fascism from Antifa and other anti-Liberty groups at home and abroad.

If you are not a current representative, are there certain committees that you would want to be a part of?

I would LOVE to sit on the Armed Services Committee - I have an affinity to all things military.

Do you believe that two years is the right term length for representatives?

Of course. Our nation's founders were the kind of men I want to be, like I perceive are Ron and Rand Paul. They understood human nature and the natural bent toward self-aggrandizement. At this point, I have no desire for great wealth, though I confess I would probably enjoy the freedom it would provide. But, I am really quite content to maintain my status quo.

What are your thoughts on term limits?

12 years total federal legislative service - TOPS; 6 [3 terms] in the House + 6 more in the Senate OR 2 Senate terms. Government service was never meant to be a career, a la Bernie Sanders/the Bushes/the Clintons/etc.

If you are not currently a member of your party’s leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives, would you be interested in joining the leadership? If so, in what role?

Not especially. The way the House IS, that would require WAY too much groveling and sucking at the Party teat. I might harm someone to escape it.

Is there a particular representative, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?

In addition to Ron Paul; James Trafficant, D-OH, the only Democrat to vote to impeach President Clinton. It cost him ALL his committee seats and the 2002 re-election, but he was too honest to his principles to vote in favor of that inveterate philanderer.
Duncan Hunter, Sr. R-CA - loose-cannon Republican, who voted principle over Party, as far as I could tell and can remember. Too bad his son wasn't as clean.

Both sitting representatives and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful?

Not as yet.
