Campaign themes
2014
Livingood's campaign website listed his themes for the 2014 campaign:
“ |
1. I have a strong interest in the quality of the Fargo School District. Two of my children have gone through the school system, one is in high school, and three have just started their journey. I have experienced and am familiar with the “happenings” of a complete school experience while still having direct feedback/information as my younger children advance through school. 2. Education has been an important part of my life. My mom was a teacher, my wife was an elementary teacher, my daughter is majoring in elementary education, and I was a teacher for 10 years. While in the educational publishing industry, I visited and worked with every school district in the Dakotas, and most of the Minnesota school districts. As a regional manager, I had the opportunity to work with districts in Chicago, Detroit, St. Louis, Kansas City, and Des Moines to name a few. These experiences give me an excellent background and framework when making decisions. 3. My background helps me understand curriculum and the current educational theories. 4. Technology will play an important part in our children’s education. My current position working with colleges allows me to be on the cutting edge of educational trends. I understand the strong and weak points of eBooks, I know the difference between Moodle & Blackboard, what adaptive learning is, etc. 5. As a manager, I supervised ten representatives, had $12 million in sales, and worked on budgeting issues on a national level. I understand financial documents, will ask questions, and make informed decisions. |
