What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
1. Child and Labor Trafficking 2. Education Reform tied directly into job creation 3. Retirees and Veterans Rights/Benefits
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
The issues that most impact the voters and the community on a day to day basis, while being able to be a community leader driving the change with solutions that the people are in favor of.
Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?
I look up to American pioneers like, Abraham Lincoln, who overcame so much personal strive and still continued his calling to serve all Americans. Currently, I aspire to be like President Donald Trump, who faces immense backlash like never seen before in our country. He shows poise and leadership in a very difficult time when there is relentless attacks on his character.
Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?
I have published three self help books on abuse, veteran transition and a faith based book. I personally put more stock in real life experiences that bring out results based on facts rather than fiction.
What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
I believe having the ability to be brave and stand up in the face of adversity, while not taking political positions based on personal financial gain is most important.
What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?
I am resilient and love the American people with all my heart, mind, body and spirit.
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
My core responsibility is to serve the best interest of all people of my district and to be able to deliver quality legislation that positively improves the quality of life of all parties involved.
What legacy would you like to leave?
The legacy I want to leave behind is ending child sex trafficking and eliminating abuse as a status quo in America and specifically in District 21/Florida.
What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?
My father tried to kill me on May 28, 1984 when I was five and two separate times after. I learned from my childhood abuse that people and humanity is valuable. I have taken this experience to serve others with love and kindness.
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
My first job was when I was 13. I was a caddy at a country club. This experience taught me the value of working hard to achieve a goal in life both personally and professionally.
What happened on your most awkward date?
My father slammed my face against the bathroom sink and sowed it up with a home needle and thread, as he was a LPN in the U.S. Army prior. No police were ever called to report the incident, but the scar reminds me of how tough I am inside for those I love to shoulder any amount of pain to help improve their lives.
What is your favorite holiday? Why?
My favorite holiday is Christmas, because it is the moment we get to celebrate God’s love for the world with the birth of Jesus Christ.
What is your favorite book? Why?
My favorite book is the Bible. The reason is because it gives me the tools I need to discern between doing what is right and wrong.
If you could be any fictional character, who would you want to be?
I would be Arthur, from the Sword and the Stone.
What is your favorite thing in your home or apartment? Why?
My iPhone.
What was the last song that got stuck in your head?
Riser, by Dierks Bentley.
What is something that has been a struggle in your life?
Reaching the people that I am called to serve as an anointed child of God, while facing obstacles to give hope to Americans through my leadership.
What process do you favor for redistricting?
I think any process should be fair and impartial to do what is best for the people who will be affected by a change in their district.
What qualities does the U.S. House of Representatives possess that makes it unique as an institution?
It’s supposed to be integrity and dedication to America. I strive to serve in that manner once elected.
Do you believe that it's beneficial for representatives to have previous experience in government or politics?
Yes, and I have extensive experience as a prior non commissioned combat mechanized infantry veteran, GS-12 Investigator for the U.S. Department of Labor in Virginia, and working at the state level in Virginia, leading the Virginia Values Veterans program among other experiences.
What do you perceive to be the United States’ greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?
Preserving the Constitution of the United States and also protecting all Americans from terrorism at home and on foreign soil.
If you are not a current representative, are there certain committees that you would want to be a part of?
I would humble like to serve on health care, education and veterans Committees in U.S. Congress. I would also love working on foreign policy and counter terrorism initiatives as well.
If you are a current representative, why did you join your current committees?
N/A
Do you believe that two years is the right term length for representatives?
I think a four year term would be better for more continuity, with term limits established.
What are your thoughts on term limits?
I am in support of them.
If you are not currently a member of your party’s leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives, would you be interested in joining the leadership? If so, in what role?
I am not, but I want to be considered a leader in my party.
Is there a particular representative, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?
Lindsey Graham
Both sitting representatives and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful?
The story I want to share and I want impact immediately, is people whom have served in the United States military who are not legal American citizens. I heard this story from a veteran who served for four years in the Air Force and is not a U.S. Citizen. I want to write a bill that changes that.
