Stephanie K. Siddens
Stephanie K. Siddens is the former acting superintendent of public instruction for Ohio. The Ohio State Board of Education appointed Siddens to serve as the acting superintendent on August 23, 2021, to succeed outgoing superintendent Paolo DeMaria, who was set to retire on September 24, 2021.[1] She left office in May 2022 when Stephen Dackin took office as the permanent superintendent. Dackin resigned on June 3, 2022, and Siddens was reappointed acting superintendent on June 14 of that year.[2] Siddens stepped down from her second tenure as acting superintendent on July 1, 2023.[3]
Biography
Before she was appointed as acting superintendent, Siddens worked at the Ohio Department of Education as the senior executive director of the Center for Student Supports. She has also worked at the state department of education as the senior executive director of the Center for Curriculum and Assessment, director of the Office of Early Learning and School Readiness, and assistant director of the Office of Early Learning and School Readiness. Her professional experience also includes working as a program evaluator at The College of Wooster, Prince William County Public Schools, and Fairfax County Public Schools. Siddens received a B.A. in psychology from Coe College and a Ph.D. in educational psychology from the University of Iowa.[4]
