Biography
Jones retired from Cleveland County Schools where he taught social studies. He works as an adjunct professor at Cleveland Community College. Jones obtained his bachelor's degree in social studies education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He went on to earn a master's degree in history education from Appalachian State University.[3]

Five of the nine seats on the Cleveland County Schools school board were up for at-large general election on November 3, 2015.
Incumbents Roger Harris, Richard Hooker Jr., and Shearra B. Miller won re-election to their seats. The other two seats on the ballot were won by Jo Boggs and Jeff Jones. Harris, Hooker, Miller, Boggs, and Jones defeated George Falls, Yvette D. Grant, William Gray, Darius Griffin, Hal Hastings, L. E. Henson, Nikki Ledford, Ray Lockhart, Howard Mcleod, Howard Thompson Jr., Robert Queen, and incumbent Jerry D. Hoyle.[4][2][5]
