Carla Archie is a judge for Judicial District 26G of the North Carolina 5th Superior Court Division. She assumed office on January 1, 2019. Her current term ends on December 31, 2026.

Archie (Democratic Party) ran for re-election for the Judicial District 26G judge of the North Carolina 5th Superior Court Division. She won in the general election on November 8, 2022.

Archie was initially a superior court judge for the 26B Judicial District of the Seventh Division of the Superior Court in North Carolina. She was elected to the court on November 4, 2014. In 2018, the North Carolina General Assembly passed House Bill 717, revising the state superior court, district court, and prosecutorial districts. Archie's seat on the Seventh Division was absorbed into the Fifth Division.

The North Carolina Superior Courts are split into five divisions and 48 districts. Superior court judges rotate among the districts within their division every six months.[1] However, superior court judges are elected by voters in their district and must reside in the district in which they are elected.[2]

Education

Archie received her undergraduate degree from Hampton University and her J.D. degree from the College of William & Mary.[3]

Career

Before she became a superior court judge, Archie worked as a senior litigation counsel for Wells Fargo & Company in Charlotte, North Carolina. She also previously worked as a deputy executive director and general counsel for the North Carolina Education Lottery, as an assistant general counsel for the Wachovia Corporation, and as an assistant district attorney in Charlotte, North Carolina.[3]
