Connie Contes
Connie Contes was a judge of the Maricopa County Superior Court in Arizona. She was appointed by Gov. Jane D. Hull (R) in January 2002.[1] Contes ran for re-election for judge of the Maricopa County Superior Court in Arizona. She won in the retention election on November 3, 2020. Contes retired from the court on June 30, 2021.[2]
Prior to her appointment as a judge of the superior court, Contes served as a judge pro tempore for the Gilbert Municipal Court from 1996 to 2000.
Biography
Contes received her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1981 and her J.D. from the UCLA School of Law in 1984. In addition to her judicial positions, Contes has worked in the following roles:[3]
- 2000–2001: Attorney, Maricopa County Office of the Legal Defender
- 1992–2000: Attorney in private practice
- 1991–1992: Attorney, Kutak Rock
- 1984–1991: Attorney, Gallagher and Kennedy

Arizona held elections for 80 superior court judgeships on November 8, 2016. Sixty-three of those seats were up for retention election. Three counties—Maricopa, Pima, and Pinal—use retention elections for their superior courts.[4]
