Michael Carpenter is a district court judge for the 75th District Court in Midland County, Michigan.[1] He was appointed to the court by Governor Rick Snyder on December 5, 2013, to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge John Hart.[2][3] On November 4, 2014, Carpenter was elected to the court unopposed to serve out the remaining two years on Hart's term. His current term expires in December 2016.[4]

Education

Carpenter received his undergraduate degree from Western Michigan University and his J.D. degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School.[2]

Career

From 2005 until his appointment to the court in December 2013, Carpenter served as a prosecutor for Midland County. He also previously worked as a sole practitioner specializing in criminal, family, and estate planning law and was an associate attorney with the firm of Mathieu and Lee.[2]
